Do you love learning and talking about science and mathematics? Do you want to develop your leadership and public speaking skills and gain volunteer experience? If so, STEMTeach KU might be right for you!

STEMTeach KU is for people who definitely want to teach, have never thought about teaching before, but are now curious, or have no interest in teaching but want to acquire leadership, public speaking, and volunteer experience. Students will major in Biology or a related STEM field within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences while completing teacher preparation coursework and student teaching experiences.

Other Requirements

  • 2.75 KU + Transfer Cumulative GPA
  • 2.5 Content GPA
  • This program is designed to be completed along with an approved BS or BA degree to fulfill the requirements necessary for the STEMTeach KU Certificate in your desired area of licensure. The program is also designed to fulfill the course requirements necessary to gain state licensure eligibility in the above mentioned areas of licensure to become a secondary teacher in Kansas, but completion of the program does not guarantee the student’s licensure. Please consult with your major advisor for further information about meeting your degree/major requirements.
